Te Mana Ākonga Structure

The decision-making body of Te Mana Ākonga is made up of two Kaiārahi (representatives) from each member Roopū or Māori student population. They are chosen by their Roopū or Māori students and are given their mandate at Hui Kaiārahi which are held three times per year. These Kaiārahi discuss issues, formulate actions, and determine the work programme of the Kaitūhono who is employed by Te Mana Ākonga as the national co-ordinator and spokesperson (Wellington-based). Major policies and decisions made by the Kaiārahi are ratified at the AGM. The AGM is part of Te Huinga Tauira, the national gathering of Māori tertiary students which is a particular highlight of the Māori student calendar.
