The National Executive

NZUSA has a federal structure. Local students’ associations are members of NZUSA, and as a result of that, all the students who are members of the local students’ association become members of NZUSA as well.

NZUSA has a National President based in Wellington. The proximity to Parliament and key stakeholders like Studylink allows for a working relationship. However, the President is accountable to all students through the local student presidents. Each President from their local students’ association is a member of the National Executive who meet monthly to make decisions about the direction of the organisation.

The National Executive is presented with the reports from the President and Executive Director, and makes governance decisions about the direction of movement.

The voice of New Zealand's 400,000 students.

The New Zealand Union of Students’ Associations exists to advance the political, social and economic interests of tertiary students whatever they study and wherever they live. NZUSA is a membership body of local students' associatons. We believe in opportunity for all.
